In the national magazine's June 27th edition, Geauga county ranked fourth best in the nation in "Best Places in America to Raise a Family." Criteria included top school districts (high standardized test scores and graduation rates), low crime, low tax rates, high per capita income, short commutes, good recreation opportunities, low cost of living, affordable housing, clean air, and a high level of community investment. The article noted that a whopping 86% of homes in Geauga are owner-occupied. It also mentioned that Geauga has the nation's second-largest Amish population.
